US Predictive Service Areas

Description:

Polygon boundaries depicting Predictive Service Area (PSA) boundaries within the USA including the lower 48 states, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. The intended use of data is wildland fire weather decision support, and resource allocation and prioritization. Polygons have been dissolved to multi-part polygons. Predictive Service Areas (PSAs) are geographic areas for which national-level fire weather or fire danger services and products are produced by wildland fire agency meteorologists and intelligence staffs in support of resource allocation and prioritization. A PSA boundary defines areas where 2 or more weather elements or National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS) indices exist with a high correlation to historical significant fire size. "Significant fires" are the 95th percentile fire size for the PSA.
