Tour the App

Orienting to the App

Climate Engine allows you to make a visualization of datasets either as a map or as a graph — to get started making maps and creating graphs, click the links. You distinguish your request by first selecting the proper tab window of options. Click on either the ‘Make Map’ tab or the ‘Make Graph’ tab as illustrated below.

Climate Engine’s display window is on the right side of the tool window. There are tabs at the top of this display window to toggle the view in the display window. Initially, the display window shows only a Map tab and a Google Map in the display window. The display window has buttons for 1) expanding the map to fullscreen, 2) zooming in and out, and 3) centering on a location the user enters. At the top left above the display window there are dropdowns for map styling and download options.  At the top right above the display window there are links for sharing maps/charts, resetting to the home page, and logging out of your account.

If the user selects the Make Graph tab from the Menu Options, a point marker will appear on the map in the display window. The user also has options to interactively draw polygon geometries in the map, to use a shapefile, or to use pre-loaded geometries.

If a Time Series is requested, new tabs called ‘Figure’ and ‘Data’  will appear at the top of the display window and the time series figure will appear in the Figure tab.

At the bottom of  the Climate Engine App, there is a navigation bar for additional support and information. Click on the text labels to navigate to resources .

The second option is ‘Metrics’. This will open a new window to the Metrics Information page on the Support Site.

The third option is ‘License and Citations’. This window lets you know how you can use the Climate Engine App and how to cite it.
